With the directive from Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy, the special teams of the Civil Supplies Department have cracked down on several hotels and tiffin centres that reportedly possessed many LPG cylinders in an unauthorized manner. Due to non availability of commercial LPG, many petty tiffin centres have been using domestic LPG cylinders for cooking purposes.

The officials felt that diversion of domestic refills for commercial purpose would lead to shortage of gas supplies to homes. The department has seized around 55 cylinders and booked cases on 19 persons in the last few days.

Vizianagaram District Civil Supplies Officer Muralinath informed the collector that there would not be any shortage of domestic LPG since their supply from oil marketing companies was as usual. Mr. Ramsundar Reddy asked people not to indulge in panic booking since it would lead to scarcity of refills in the district. He said that a control room had been set up to monitor the LPG supplies in the district.
