Rwanda’s Fanny Utagushimaninde became the first woman to score a century on a T20I debut during the match against Ghana at the Nigeria Invitational Women’s T20I Tournament in Lagos on Friday.

At 15 years and 223 days, Utagushimaninde also became the youngest to score a hundred in T20Is. She bettered the record of Uganda’s Prosscovia Alako, who scored 116 when she was 16 years and 233 days old. In men’s cricket, France’s Gustav Mckeon holds the record of youngest man to score a century at 18 years and 280 days.

Opening the batting, Utagushimaninde scored an unbeaten 111 off 65 balls with the help of 17 fours. She overtook Australia’s Karen Rolton previous best score of 96 not out on T20I debut.

Her innings helped Rwanda post 210 for three. Rwanda later restricted Ghana at 88 for eight to win the match by a massive 122-run margin.
