In yet another cryptic message on Truth Social , one wonders whether US President Donald Trump on Monday hinted at a push towards peace and a quicker end to the escalating war with Iran.“Peace through strength, to put it mildly,” the US president wrote in post, though giving no direct reference to the West Asia conflict - leaving readers puzzled. The remark comes as Washington’s 48-hour deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz expires, raising the prospect of US strikes on Iranian power infrastructure.Trump has demanded that Tehran “fully open” the vital waterway, a key artery for global energy flows, as oil markets remain under pressure.Tehran, however, has warned it would respond forcefully, threatening to completely shut the strait and expand its targets if its energy facilities are attacked. The standoff has increasingly shifted focus from battlefield engagements to strategic infrastructure. Iranian officials have indicated that any escalation could trigger attacks on energy, technology and desalination assets linked to US and Israeli interests across the region. At the same time, Israeli forces have stepped up operations, launching fresh strikes on infrastructure in Tehran and signalling that military pressure will intensify in the coming days.Even as diplomatic signals remain ambiguous, military operations appear to be intensifying. The head of US Central Command, Admiral Brad Cooper, said the campaign against Iran is “ahead or on plan,” describing Tehran’s recent actions as reflective of “desperation,” particularly in its alleged targeting of civilian areas.Cooper noted that while Iran had initially launched large-scale barrages of drones and missiles, the frequency and volume of such attacks have declined in recent days. He added that US and Israeli forces are not only intercepting immediate threats but also targeting missile and drone production capabilities to limit Iran’s long-term military capacity.
