A youth from Napoklu, Kodagu district, has been booked by the police for posting reels and audio clips containing provocative statements on social media.

A statement from the Kodagu District Police said the reels and audio clips containing provocative statements came to the notice of the police department during social media monitoring.

The individual had shared provocative content, including text and videos, through his social media account. “Upon verification, it was found that the content could disturb public peace and communal harmony. A background verification revealed that the individual is currently out on bail in an ongoing case,” the police statement said.

A separate case has now been registered against him, and a petition has been submitted before the court seeking cancellation of his bail, the police said.

The police have also warned that posting or sharing any content on social media that incites violence or creates unrest between communities or religions is illegal. “Strict legal action will be taken against those involved in such activities,” the police warned.
