Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited has introduced the country’s first ‘LPG ATM’, a gas vending machine, in Gurugram. The machine, which operates 24/7, provides a cylinder within 2 to 3 minutes, offering convenience to residents at all hours. The LPG ATM has been installed at Central Park Flower Valley society in Sector 33 of Gurugram’s Sohna area. Unlike traditional iron cylinders, the machine uses composite cylinders made of fibre, which weigh around 15 kg, roughly half the weight of conventional iron cylinders.Currently, the service is available to customers connected to Bharat Gas (BPCL) as part of a pilot project. The ATM dispenses 10 kg cylinders in just 2 to 3 minutes. It has a capacity of approximately 10 cylinders and is equipped with a smart sensor system that alerts the nearest gas agency when stock is low, ensuring timely refills.Amit Khatana, Facility Deputy Manager of the society, highlighted the convenience this provides to residents. “This machine is very convenient. Previously, you had to wait for delivery, but now you can get a cylinder in just two minutes,” he said.He added that the machine is especially useful for late-night or holiday access and noted that if the pilot project succeeds, the service could be expanded to other cities and residential colonies.BPCL’s LPG ATM represents a significant step in modernising fuel distribution in India, combining speed, safety, and accessibility. The success of this pilot project could pave the way for more automated solutions in urban areas, transforming the way residents access cooking gas.Inputs from agencies
