Telangana Civil Supplies Department categorically said on Tuesday (March 24, 2026) that there is ‘absolutely’ no shortage of petrol, diesel, or domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) anywhere in the State.

Responding to reports on fuel scarcity at some outlets in Hyderabad , the Department said that panic buying by people led to long queues and ‘no stock’ boards at some of the outlets. Besides, administrative changes in advance-payment models by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) led to logistical adjustments for some local dealers.

Artificial scarcity is created when people rush to fill their fuel tanks to full capacity, as per a communication from the department, which added that the supply chain from oil refineries to local depots is fully operational, and self-sufficient stock is available to meet the regular daily requirements across all districts.

Earlier in the day, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar too said that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG cylinders across the city and that supplies are functioning normally. The Hyderabad police, he added, are closely monitoring the situation in coordination with relevant departments to ensure uninterrupted availability of fuel and cooking gas

The Central and State government in coordination with the Police department and OMCs are monitoring the fuel outlets. The Civil Supplies Department wanted of strict action against people hoarding fuel, black-marketing, or illegally diverting domestic LPG cylinders for commercial use.

The government has appealed to people to avoid panic buying and to trust only official communication and not to forward unverified rumours on social media platforms.

In case of queries or to report irregularities, people can contact the Civil Supplies department on its toll-free helpline 1967.
