BW Tyr and BW Elm, two Indian flagged LPG carriers, are crossing the Strait of Hormuz now, as per ship tracker websites. They were among the five anchored north of Dubai-Ras Al Khaima on Friday (March 28, 2027). Elm is chartered by HPCL and Tyr by BPCL.
Tyr and Elm, owned by BW LPG India, a subsidiary of the well-known BW Group and BW LPG, have a combined cargo carrying capacity of more than 106,000 tonnes. The two together are said to be carrying a combined cargo of around 93,000 tonnes, as per a reliable source — equivalent to three days of current LPG import requirements. While BW Elm’s intended destination as of last week was New Mangaluru Port, Tyr’s was Mumbai.

Two other LPG carriers belonging to the state-owned SCI had crossed the strait and have discharged their cargo in India.
