A communique from Lok Bhavan informed that all lights in staff colony, officers’ quarters, and administrative building were switched off for an hour.

Video clips circulated on social media that captured the exact moment the lights went out plunging secretariat into darkness.

Earth Hour is a global movement initiated by the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) two decades ago, where in a symbolic gesture, people turn off non essential lights for an hour between 8:30-9:30 pm on the last Saturday of March in order to raise awareness about climate change and conservation.

To mark 20 hours of Earth Hour, WWF-India Hyderabad in collaboration with L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad), organised a cultural programme at Ameerpet Metro Station.
