A bomb threat email sent to the Gujarat Assembly on Wednesday (March 18, 2026) morning prompted authorities to evacuate the complex and launch a massive security sweep, just minutes before the Budget Session proceedings were set to begin.

According to police, the email claimed that a bomb had been planted within the Assembly premises. Following the alert, all staff members and MLAs were asked to immediately vacate the complex.

Police said the threat was received at around 8:45 a.m., just ahead of the scheduled 9 a.m. start of the session. “Upon learning about the bomb threat, local police rushed to the premises and initiated a thorough search operation for any explosives,” they said.

Officials added that no suspicious objects had been found during the search operation so far.
