US Presdient Donald Trump on Wednesday said Iran’s military capabilities had been significantly weakened amid the ongoing conflict, asserting that US actions had curtailed Tehran’s ability to advance its missile and nuclear programmes Addressing the nation from the White House , Trump described the campaign against Iran as a pre-emptive effort aimed at eliminating long-term security threats, particularly the risk of a nuclear-armed Iran.“Iran’s navy is gone, their air force is in ruins, and many of their leaders are now dead,” Trump said, adding that the country’s missile capabilities had been “dramatically curtailed” following sustained US strikes over the past month.Trump emphasised that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons has remained a core objective of his political agenda. He said Iran had been moving closer to developing advanced missile systems capable of reaching the American homeland, framing the US intervention as necessary to stop that progression.“This has been my pledge from the very first day,” he said, referring to his 2015 presidential campaign, reiterating that Iran would “never” be allowed to become a nuclear-armed state.The US offensive, launched under “Operation Epic Fury,” has focused on dismantling Iran’s strategic military infrastructure.Trump said Washington’s goals include destroying Iran’s missile programme, neutralising its naval forces, disrupting weapons production systems, cutting off support to proxy groups, and ensuring it never acquires nuclear weapons.He added that Iran’s weapons factories and rocket launchers were being systematically targeted, further limiting its offensive capabilities.Trump indicated that military operations would continue in the near term, warning of intensified action in the coming weeks as part of efforts to fully neutralise remaining threats.He also said forces linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were being targeted, describing the group as central to Iran’s military and regional operations.
