Right-arm seamer Yadvinder Singh has moved to Leicestershire for a short-term signing with the club ahead of the County Championship Division One 2026. The pace bowler, born in Rajasthan, India, has been a representative of Worcestershire in the past, and after the club released him at the end of the 2025 season, Leicestershire signed a professional contract ahead of the upcoming season.
The 30-year-old was elated with excitement and expressed that he is looking forward to playing for Leicestershire. The speedster further revealed that he had been training with the squad for quite some time, and with an opportunity coming his way, he is more than confident to give his best with the ball for the county club.
"I'm really pleased to be given this opportunity with Leicestershire. I've enjoyed my time training with the squad, and I'm excited to contribute over the first part of the season," Yadavinder was quoted as saying in a statement as per ESPNcricinfo.
Meanwhile, former cricketer and head coach Alfonso Thomas also welcomed Yadvinder, saying that his preparations with the club throughout the winter has been quite impressive. An ex-right-arm pacer himself, Thomas believes that Yadvinder is in line to get a good bunch of opportunities for the club in the upcoming season, which gets underway in a few days' time.
"Yadvinder has been with us over the winter and has impressed with both his skill and attitude. With a few injuries in our seam group, it's a good opportunity for him and he adds important depth to the squad at the start of the season," Leicestershire head coach Alfonso Thomas expressed.
