Sri Lanka fast bowler Nuwan Thushara reportedly on Thursday submitted a petition to the Colombo District Court, requesting an order that mandates Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to facilitate his participation in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The case, which has been taken up before the Colombo District Court, has the first hearing scheduled for Thursday, April 9.
“In his plaint, the pacer has named SLC president Shammi Silva, secretary Bandula Dissanayake, treasurer Sujeewa Godaliyadda, and CEO Ashley de Silva as defendants,” NewsWire reports.
If the SLC is to be believed, Thushara, retained by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for INR 1.60 crore ahead of the season, has failed to meet the required fitness levels, and hence, such a strict call was taken by the cricketing body.
Thushara, however, asserts that his current fitness levels are as consistent as they were during his career. The failure to get the said NOC would impact his future prospects in the IPL as well as other overseas leagues.
