India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said that isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Jammu-Kashmir and thunderstorms with strong winds (50–60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph) are expected over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, and East Rajasthan on Friday and Saturday.

It said a fresh wet spell is likely on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rain or snowfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30–50 kmph), over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

During the same period, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) is also expected over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Rajasthan.

“Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 03rd & 04th April,” IMD said.

It added, “Thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph) likely over Jammu-Kashmir-LadakhGilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh & Delhi and East Rajasthan on 03rd & 04th; West Rajasthan on 03rd; Uttarakhand on 04th; Uttar Pradesh on 04th & 05th April.”

IMD weather forecast in India IMD said two active western disturbances are expected to impact northwest India this week, with peak intensity likely tomorrow and day after tomorrow, and on Tuesday. Hailstorms are also likely across parts of the region on Friday and Saturday, along with isolated heavy rainfall over the Kashmir Valley during the same period.

It further said that a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected over central India until Monday, with isolated hailstorm activity likely to continue until Saturday, noting daytime temperatures are expected to remain near to below normal across northwest India through the week.

“Isolated to Scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40- 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 02nd, West Bengal & Sikkim during 05th07th, Jharkhand on 04th; Odisha during next 5 days. Thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph) likely over Bihar during 05th -08th; Jharkhand on 05th & 06th April,” IMD said on East India weather.

It said isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30–50 kmph), is likely over central India over the next five days. Thunderstorms with strong winds (50–60 kmph, gusting up to 70 kmph) are expected over West Madhya Pradesh on Friday and Saturday.

The IMD further mentioned isolated hailstorm activity is likely over Madhya Pradesh from Thursday to Saturday and over Chhattisgarh on Saturday.

When it comes to West India, it stated, “Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40- 50 gusting to 60 kmph) likely over Madhya Maharashtra on 04th, Marathawada on 04th & 05th and Gujarat State during 02nd & 03rd April with lightning over coastal Maharashtra on 02nd April. Thundersquall (wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph) with isolated hailstorm activity likely over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada on 02nd & 03rd April.”

IMD said isolated light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph), is likely over Kerala and Mahe from Thursday to Sunday; Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Telangana, and Interior Karnataka from Thursday to Monday; and Rayalaseema on Sunday and Monday.

It added that lightning activity is likely over Coastal Karnataka from Thursday to Saturday and over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from Friday to Monday.
