Delhi residents witnessed cloudy skies on Friday, with a dust storm sweeping across parts of the region. The city had recorded a maximum temperature of 36.8 degree celcius on April 2, 2.8 degrees above the seasonal average, while the minimum settled at 18.9 degree celcius. (Screenshot from ANI video) According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms accompanied by rain are likely on Friday night and Saturday. The IMD has said that the unsettled conditions are likely to persist through the week, with cloudy skies expected to continue till Monday, April 6. Intermittent light rain and thunderstorms are also likely during this period.
Earlier forecasts had indicated that the national capital may witness very light to light rainfall along with thunderstorms around April 3 and 4, signalling a brief spell of active weather over the region. On April 4, IMD has flashed a yellow warnig to Delhi people, predicting thunderstorm accompanied with lighting and gusty winders of 30 to 40 kmph in both afternoon and evening on April 4.
