The Indian Army killed a Pakistani terrorist during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.

The operation — OP DIGGI 2 — was jointly carried out by the Chinar Corps and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, based on intelligence inputs regarding an infiltration attempt.

While combing the area, alert troops spotted movement in the thicket and cornered a Pakistani terrorist, who opened "indiscriminate fire", the Chinar Corps said.

The terrorist was then eliminated by Army personnel and war-like stores, including an AK rifle, pistols, and a large quantity of ammunition was recovered.

The operation is still underway, as of the last of update.

Army personnel dies in anti-terror op On Saturday, a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Indian Army died after he slipped and fell on the ground during an anti-terrorist operation in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, the White Knight Corps said.

“White Knight Corps pays solemn tribute to the unwavering courage, steadfast devotion and selfless service of the departed soldier. In this moment of profound grief, we stand firmly with the bereaved family and honour the memory of a warrior who served the nation till his last breath,” the unit said.

Infiltration bids foild in March Earlier on March 10, an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir was foiled by Indian troops, with one Pakistan-sponsored terrorist eliminated during the operation.

The operation was carried out by the White Knight Corps on Tuesday, 10 March, with the unit adding that a hunt for a second terrorist was also underway.

A day later, on 11 March, the White Knight Corps also recovered 4 kg of explosives in Poonch, but it was unclear whether the infiltration bid and the discovery were linked.

The explosives were destroyed on spot, the military unit said.
