Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz in response to Israeli strikes on Lebanon, according to state media reports cited by the Associated Press, effectively halting traffic through one of the world’s most critical energy chokepoints after a fragile ceasefire with the United States.The move threatens flows through a route that carries roughly a fifth of global oil and LNG supplies, raising fresh concerns over energy markets and maritime security.Iran earlier in the day warned it could pull out of the fragile ceasefire with the United States, accusing Israel of violating the truce through continued attacks in Lebanon.Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi raised what he described as “ceasefire violations” by Israel during a call with Pakistan’s army chief Asim Munir, saying he had “discussed the Zionist regime's violations of the ceasefire in Iran and Lebanon”, according to an Iranian foreign ministry statement.
