The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rainfall in multiple states on April 9 and 10 due to active weather systems. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Assam and warned of heavy rainfall in northern, eastern and north-eastern states for today. In Northeast India, fairly widespread rainfall is expected across all states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, with heavy rainfall likely in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura on April 9.On April 9, light to moderate rainfall is likely over parts of Northwest India, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, with thunderstorms and gusty winds, according to the IMD forecast. “Isolated to Scattered light to moderate rainfall/snowfall with isolated thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 Kmph) likely over Jammu-Kashmir during 09th- 11th April,” the weather office said and forecast similar weather conditions for Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 9 April.In East India, rainfall is expected over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal (including Sub-Himalayan regions) and Sikkim on April 9, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds. Odisha will also receive rainfall on both April 9 and 10. In Central India, Chhattisgarh is likely to receive rainfall on April 9. For Uttar Pradesh, the IMD said there would be a marked reduction in rainfall activity likely from April 9, followed by completely dry weather conditions across the state from April 10.The IMD has issued a yellow alert for West Bengal's capital Kolkata and has warned of thunderstorms, rainfall accompanied with lightning and gusty winds today. The maximum and minimum temperature are likely to hover around 31 degrees Celsius and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively."Isolated to Scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim during 9th -12th; Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand on 9th; Odisha on 9th & 10th April," the Meteorological Department said in its press release dated 8 April.On April 10, rainfall activity will mainly continue over Northeast India, including Assam and Meghalaya (with chances of heavy rainfall), along with other northeastern states. Additionally, Odisha will continue to receive rainfall on April 10.Over the southern states, IMD has forecast that the weather will remain hot and humid. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala can expect such weather conditions today, while in Goa, similar weather is likely on 10 and 11 April and in the coastal areas of Gujarat from 11 to 14 April; in Odisha from 12 to 14 April; and in Coastal Karnataka till 11 April.Delhi will see mainly clear skies today, the IMD said in its latest weather bulletin The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi are likely to be in the range of 30°C to 32°C and 14°C to 16°C, respectively. Delhi had been receiving rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning for the past few days under the influence of a western disturbance, which weather experts said has brought widespread cloud cover and precipitation.After a brief spell of rain and thunderstorms brought relief to residents, Delhi-NCR is now set to witness a steady rise in temperatures, with the mercury likely to touch 38°C by April 14. The IMD has predicted that the maximum temperature will increase by around 6–8 degrees Celsius over the next week. The mercury is likely to hover between 30–32°C initially, before climbing to 35–37°C and eventually touching 36–38°C by April 14.
