Kunal Kamra tells Bombay HC on Sahyog Portal: ‘Worse situation if ordinary policemen orders content takedown’

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has challenged the Constitutional validity of the "Sahyog Portal" and an amendment to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. He alleges that the portal is an "unconstitutional and unreasonable" assault on freedom of speech, allowing officials to take down social media content without following procedure. Kamra argues that this power is "unlawful" and enables arbitrary takedowns of information on the internet.
