Justin Langer's fiery promise goes viral after Mukul Choudhary destroys KKR
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed a brand-new hero on Thursday (April 9) night at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) young batter Mukul Choudhary has now emerged as one of the biggest names of this season after pulling off a thrilling win for his team against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Batting at No. 7, Mukul Choudhary played a match-winning knock of an unbeaten 54 runs off 27 balls under pressure that looked almost unreal. He smashed only two boundaries and seven entertaining sixes during his stunning knock against KKR at the Eden Gardens.
His knock helped Lucknow Super Giants to chase down the 182-run target in the last ball against Kolkata Knight Riders, as they recorded back-to-back wins to return to the top 5 in the IPL 2026 points table on Thursday.

Mukul Choudhary's knock left Eden Gardens stunned
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants were chasing 182, but by the 16th over, they were stuck at 128 for 7. They were under immense pressure, but Mukul, who was playing only his third IPL game, walked in with no fear at all and changed the entire story by himself.
He was unbelievable throughout his knock, but his 52 runs out of his last 19 balls made everyone realize they were watching something special at Eden Gardens. Mukul finished the match like a seasoned pro. After being adjudged Player of the Match, he opened up about his fearless knock.
Mukul opens up about his knock and mindset
“My plan was to play till the end. I believe in myself so much that if I stayed, I could take the team home. There is pressure, but I focus on the opportunity, not the pressure,” Mukul said at the post-match presentation as quoted by Times of India.

On his aggressive and attacking mindset, the LSG star said, "If the ball comes into my area, I’ll hit it. That’s how I’ve always played. Even if the bowler delivers four perfect balls, I knew one would come into my zone.”
Mukul Choudhary's inspiring journey
Mukul Choudhary’s story makes his performance even more inspiring. He comes from Jhunjhunu, where cricket dreams usually don’t get big wings because of limited facilities. Even the 21-year-old Rajasthan batter started playing seriously only around the age of 12–13.
He trained in Sikar, moved to Jaipur, and then shifted to Gurugram to learn the modern game. The right-handed batter revealed that it was his father’s dream for him to play cricket. Mukul added, “My journey started even before I was born. My father had a dream that his son would play cricket.”
