US President Donald Trump on Wednesday, March 18 warned that if Iran continued targeting Qatar’s energy facilities, they would “massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field.” With this announcement he also cautioned Israel not to make this kind of attack without US consent . “NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL," Trump wrote in all caps in a Truth social post, before terming Qatar "innocent" in this war.Earlier, in a major escalation, Tehran attacked a key energy facility in Qatar after Israel bombed the South Pars Gas in Iran, which could disrupt the already strained oil market.In the social media post, Trump threw Israel under the bus and publicly refuted claims that the strike on South Pars was planned and authorized by his administration, which many are questioning the coordination between the two countries, which involved one of the world's most important oil supply routes.“The United States knew nothing about this particular attack, and the country of Qatar was in no way, shape, or form, involved with it, nor did it have any idea that it was going to happen,” he wrote.Qatar said Wednesday that Iranian missiles caused “significant damage” at Ras Laffan Industrial City, home to the largest liquefied natural gas, or LNG, export facility in the world.Trump also urged Israel to end attacks on the South Pars gas field, unless Iran “unwisely” decides to attack Qatar. In that case, the US will “massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an amount of strength and power that Iran has never seen or witnessed before.”The lack of communication between the United States and Israel also comes after Trump’s top counterterrorism official resigned over the war in Iran and urged him to "reverse course." National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent said in an X post that Iran posed "no imminent threat" and alleged that the US started this war “due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby".
