Brazil announces US partnership to intercept weapons, drug trafficking

Brazil's government has announced a new security partnership with the United States to combat criminal networks and illicit traffic of drugs and weapons. The partnership, called the DESARMA programme, involves real-time data sharing, rigorous cargo tracking and joint operations to intercept illicit shipments. Brazil has also seized 1,168 illicit arms imported from the US in the last 12 months, mainly sent from the state of Florida
