Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a series of conversations with global leaders, stressing the urgent need for de-escalation and a return to dialogue amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia.Modi spoke with Haitham bin Tariq, extending advance Eid greetings to the people of Oman. The leaders agreed on prioritising diplomatic efforts to ease tensions and restore stability in the region.During the conversation, Modi reiterated India’s condemnation of the violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while appreciating Muscat’s efforts to facilitate the safe return of thousands of people, including Indian nationals.Both sides also highlighted the importance of ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz , a key global energy corridor.In a separate call with Anwar Ibrahim , the Prime Minister conveyed greetings on the upcoming festival of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The two leaders also discussed the “deeply concerning” situation in West Asia and reaffirmed their shared commitment to de-escalation through dialogue and diplomacy.Modi also spoke with Emmanuel Macron and discussed the evolving situation in the region, underlining the importance of diplomacy to restore peace and stability. “We look forward to continuing our close coordination to advance peace and stability in the region and beyond,” Modi said.The outreach comes amid rising tensions in West Asia that have disrupted trade routes and heightened concerns over regional stability.
