Djibouti’s President Guelleh wins sixth straight term in office

Djibouti's longtime President has secured a landslide victory in the country's latest elections, securing 97 percent of the vote. His sole opponent earned 2.19 percent of votes. Voter turnout was 80.4 percent, with roughly a quarter of the population registered to vote. The President has ruled Djibouti since 1999 and has been reelected for his sixth consecutive term.
