President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday (March 19, 2026) said that it was a supreme honour to touch the sacred soil of Ayodhya, the “birthplace of Prabhu Shri Ram”, and added that the ideal of Ram Rajya represented the pinnacle of economic prosperity and social harmony.

The President participated in the installation of the Shri Ram Yantra at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir on Thursday (March 19, 2026), the first day of Chaitra Navratri.Being present here on the inaugural day of Navratri is a truly blessed moment. The dates commemorating the Bhoomi Pujan of the highly revered Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, the Pran Pratishtha of the divine idol of Ram Lalla at this location, the inauguration of the Ram Darbar for worshippers, and the raising of the religious flag on the temple’s spire are significant milestones in our history and culture,” she said.

The President emphasised that the country was collectively progressing towards the establishment of an inclusive society and a developed nation. “With the blessings of Prabhu Shri Ram, we are poised to realise these aspirations by the year 2047, or perhaps even earlier. In the 21st Century, the vision of our inclusive society and developed nation resonates with the concept of Ram Rajya,” Ms. Murmu remarked.

She stressed that the ideal of Ram Rajya represented the pinnacle of economic prosperity and social harmony. “Numerous examples from the life of Prabhu Shri Ram illustrate the principle of adopting a comprehensive and inclusive approach to life. Embracing the principles of Ram Rajya, we can construct a nation grounded in morality and ethical conduct,” she added.

Ms. Murmu also said that the spiritual ideas of the great land of Ayodhya were no longer confined to the temple town alone, but have spread across the whole country. She said that the consecration in Ayodhya was the consecration of India’s spiritual power, and that the present generation was fortunate to have witnessed this historic moment with their own eyes.

Speaking on the occasion, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the consecration of the Shri Ram Yantra filled every follower of Sanatan Dharma and every true Indian with immense joy. “Under the direction and guidance of the Prime Minister, the Bhoomi Pujan for the establishment of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, the Pran-Pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla, the installation of the holy idols of Ram Darbar, the raising of the flag, and now the consecration of the Shri Ram Yantra evoke profound happiness in every adherent of Sanatan Dharma and every Indian,” he said, adding that it reflected the deep-rooted faith of India.

Hitting out at the Opposition parties for disrespecting Lord Ram, the Chief Minister alleged that faith had been insulted by being termed as blind belief.

“The individuals who disparaged this faith refrained from travelling to Noida to safeguard their power, yet they did not perceive this as an act of unreasoning belief. In contrast, discussions regarding the Ram Mandir, Kashi Vishwanath Dham, and Krishna-Kanhaiya of Mathura-Vrindavan were deemed as superstition. This faith, which has remained unwavering for 500 years, has withstood challenges, and neither faltered, nor yielded, nor shattered, has ultimately triumphed, and today Ayodhya is presented to the world in its current state,” Mr. Adityanath said, calling the Ram Temple the symbol of India’s civilisational consciousness.
