The United States on Thursday approved military sales worth $16.46 billion to the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, two Gulf nations heavily impacted by the ongoing Iran conflict. The move comes after Iran retaliated against a large-scale US-Israeli air campaign launched late last month, firing missiles and drones that caused casualties and extensive damage across the Gulf region. Both the UAE and Kuwait have had to deploy substantial military resources to counter the attacks. The arms package underscores Washington’s commitment to bolstering the defense capabilities of its Gulf allies as regional tensions escalate.
