Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) head coach Justin Langer manifested a solid season for skipper Rishabh Pant, mentioning that the wicketkeeper-batter is batting brilliantly at the nets.
Pant was roped in by LSG for a whopping INR 27 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, making him the most expensive player in the league's history. However, the wicketkeeper-batter failed to do justice to his price tag as he scored just 269 runs across the season, including a hundred in the final game.
"Rishabh Pant will be ready to go. He is training at the moment. We've got a camp going on. He is firing. Champions do not stay out for long. His last game in IPL 2025 showed how brilliant he can be. So, that's our expectation from him this year," Justin Langer told the media on the sidelines of the LSG camp.
Pant recently trained under the guidance of Yuvraj Singh at the Cricket Club of India in Mumbai. The former India all-rounder has trained the likes of Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson, Prabhsimran Singh and many others. Most of them have benefited after receiving advice from the former India vice-captain.
The Lucknow Super Giants had a disappointing campaign last season. Pant and Co. finished in the 7th position at the end of the round-robin phase despite their openers amassing a lot of runs in IPL 2025. LSG would hope to get back on track under the leadership of Pant. The Langer-coached team was plagued by injuries last season. They would hope that the players stay away from injuries and deliver to their full potential.

LSG will start their campaign on Wednesday, April 1, against the Delhi Capitals. This game will be played at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. After this clash, LSG will meet Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Gujarat Titans on April 5, 9, and 12, respectively. The BCCI has announced the schedule for only the first 20 matches to avoid a clash with the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Assam, and West Bengal. The remaining schedule will be announced in the coming days.
