Hassan MLA, H.P. Swaroop of the JD(S), has alleged that the special investigation team (SIT) that filed the charge sheet after the investigation into the alleged circulation of explicit videos related to former MP, Prajwal Revanna’s, cases of sexual abuse included ‘innocent party workers’ as accused.
Speaking to press persons in Hassan on Friday, Mr. Swaroop said that the SIT investigated the role of 52 people and finally filed the charge-sheet against 39 people. Among them were 10 to 12 workers of the Janata Dal (Secular). “They are all innocent, no way connected to the alleged leak of videos and photos. However, those who were really involved in the case have been dropped from the charge sheet,” he alleged.
Mr. Swaroop said that he was at pains, as one of his cousins had been included in the charge sheet. “My cousin is into his own profession after obtaining a degree in engineering from Australia. His name has been included in the charge sheet, though he had no role in the case. The party stands by the party workers and will take up a legal battle in their support,” the MLA said. Condemning the charge sheet, Mr. Swaroop urged the State government to further investigate the case and find those actually involved and to punish them.
The SIT recently submitted a charge sheet after investigating the case and named 39 people as accused. The list included workers of major political parties.
