A faraway conflict threatens livelihoods in India's glass hub

Glass production in Firozabad, India's "glass city," has dropped due to uncertain gas supplies. The city, which produces 70% of the country's glass, relies heavily on natural gas to fuel furnaces at extremely high temperatures. Factory owners, including Sanjay Jain, have been forced to ration gas and reduce production to cope with the shortage, resulting in losses of 25-40% since the supply disruption began. Over 150,000 people are employed in Firozabad's glass factories.
