After Maoists, Counter-Intelligence is top priority for Modi government

India's national security establishment has prioritized counter-intelligence (CI) to tackle foreign intelligence networks and operatives within the country. The government has taken action against foreign intelligence agencies, their networks, and operatives, including those from Pakistan's ISI, China's MSS, and Western intelligence. India's CI response involves multiple agencies, including the National Investigation Agency, Intelligence Bureau, Research and Analysis Wing, and state police, which have progressively dismantled foreign operations and arrested operatives.
