Armed conflict last year in Colombia hit civilians the hardest in a decade, Red Cross says

The security situation in Colombia has deteriorated, with the International Committee of the Red Cross reporting the worst impact of armed conflict on civilians in over a decade. The number of people displaced due to fighting between criminal gangs and rebels has doubled, reaching 235,000, while lockdowns imposed by rebel groups have increased by 99%. Rebel groups and drug traffickers have been fighting the Colombian government for control of rural areas, leading to a progressive deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
