Australian court finds grocery chain Coles misled shoppers in discount lawsuit

Coles, Australia's No. 2 grocery chain, has been found to have engaged in misleading conduct by increasing prices of household items and then advertising discounts that were higher than the original price. The court ruled that the discounts were not genuine as the products were not sold at the 'was' price for a reasonable period. This decision was made in a lawsuit brought by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
