Bulgaria ex-president wins parliamentary majority

Bulgaria's former president Rumen Radev secured an absolute majority in parliamentary elections, marking the end of the country's half-decade of political uncertainty. Radev's Progressive Bulgaria grouping won 44.7 percent of the vote, with the turnout being the highest since 2021. The landslide victory is the first outright parliamentary majority for a single formation in Bulgaria since 1997. Radev has pledged to fight corruption and rid the country of its "oligarchic governance model".
