Africa's population is projected to double by 2061, reaching 2.5 billion by 2050, making it the fastest-growing region in the world. The continent's population is becoming demographically unavoidable, with 1.6 billion people currently residing in Africa. Africa's working-age population is projected to exceed that of India and China combined by 2040, with cities evolving into dense consumer markets and labour hubs. However, deep structural weaknesses and poor governance hinder the continent's ability to convert demographic momentum into sustained growth.
