China expels former securities regulator chief Yi Huiman from Communist Party, public office

Chinese authorities have expelled Yi Huiman, former chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, from the Communist Party and public office. Yi headed the securities regulator from January 2019 to February 2024 and fell under investigation for corruption in the finance sector. He is accused of engaging in superstitious activities, accepting gifts and money, and abusing power for personal gain.
