CNN founder Ted Turner dies at 87

Ted Turner, the founder of CNN, has died at the age of 87. He pioneered the modern 24-hour news culture by launching Cable News Network in 1980 as the first dedicated rolling news channel. Initially struggling, CNN proved its worth with speedy updates of major stories and live rolling coverage from Iraq during the Gulf War. Turner's success led to the launch of other news channels, including Fox News, and he expanded his media empire to include TBS, TNT, Turner Classic Movies, and Cartoon Network.
