Corruption case against former 'Viceroy of Spain' dropped

A corruption case against a former Catalan regional president has been dropped due to his permanent unfitness to stand trial due to dementia. The case involves charges of illicit enrichment, tax evasion, forming a criminal organization, and money laundering against the former politician and 13 other individuals. The prosecution had sought prison sentences for the defendants, including the maximum of 29 years for one of the accused.
