Dating app match, barely six-month marriage: How ‘dowry death’ victim met her Bhopal husband

A 31-year-old woman was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal's Katara Hills area. She had married a Bhopal-based lawyer in December 2025 after meeting him through a dating app. An FIR has been registered against the husband and his mother under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 80(2) related to dowry death. A Special Investigation Team has been formed to investigate the allegations of dowry harassment, assault, and murder. The woman's family alleges she was unhappy in Bhopal and was physically assaulted by her husband.
