Electric air taxis are finally taking flight — just not with passengers

An electric aircraft from Joby Aviation took off from JFK Airport on Monday for a demonstration flight of the company's future air taxi route to Manhattan. The aircraft has an egg-shaped cabin and six tilt-rotor propellers powered by an electric motor.
