E-trucks on verge of achieving commercial cost parity with diesel vehicles: Report

Heavy-duty electric trucks in India are on the verge of achieving commercial cost parity with diesel vehicles. A report found that 55-tonne electric trucks currently have a total cost of ownership only 3-4% higher than comparable diesel vehicles. The cost gap for smaller truck segments is expected to narrow, with 14-tonne and 19-tonne trucks reaching parity within three to four years. Adequate fast-charging infrastructure and high utilisation rates are key to making electric freight commercially feasible.
