EU eases state aid rules to tackle rising energy costs due to Iran war

The European Union is loosening its state aid rules to allow higher electricity subsidies for energy-intensive industries and other support measures to cushion the economic fall-out from the conflict in the Middle East. National governments can now support energy-intensive industries more generously, compensate extra fuel and fertilizer costs, and simplify requirements for aid payments. The new rules are in place until the end of the year.
