Europe named ‘fastest-warming continent’ in latest climate change report

Europe experienced above-average annual temperatures in 2025, with record-high marine temperatures and widespread wildfires from the Arctic to the Mediterranean. Almost the whole region saw above-average temperatures, including drought conditions, and hot and dry conditions fueled wildfires that burned a significant area of land. Strong marine heatwaves were observed across much of the continent, and snow cover fell by nearly 30 percent in March 2025.
