Fishers flag safety gaps, call for quick-response rescue service

An action committee comprising fishermen and fishing boat owners has sought the Fisheries department's intervention in Kozhikode to set up a disaster response unit. They demand this due to the disrupted marine ambulance service near the Beypore fishing harbour. The Karunya marine ambulance, commissioned to coordinate sea rescue operations, has been out of service due to fitness issues, with no alternative arrangements made to address fishers' safety concerns.
