Food inflation hammers households in war-hit Iran

Inflation in conflict-hit Iran is jeopardising food security among households, with new figures showing a significant increase in prices. The Statistical Center of Iran reported a 73.5 percent inflation rate in the first month of the Persian calendar year compared to the same month last year, with food inflation at 115 percent. Staple items such as vegetable oil, cooking oil, and rice have seen substantial price hikes, with some items more than tripling in price. This has left many Iranians struggling to afford basic necessities.
