Gaurav Gogoi enters Jorhat contest as Congress eyes comeback in 2026 Assam Polls

Gaurav Gogoi is contesting from Jorhat in the 2026 Assembly elections against BJP's Hitendra Nath Goswami. He is the chief of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and a Member of Parliament from the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency. Gogoi has been elected to the Lok Sabha thrice in succession from different constituencies. He was born in Delhi and is the son of Assam's longest-serving Chief Minister. Before entering politics, Gogoi worked in rural India on development initiatives and in the public sector for nearly a decade.
