Germany sees rise in battery storage system capacity in first quarter

Germany saw a significant increase in battery storage system capacity in the first quarter of 2026, with industry figures showing two-thirds more installations compared to the previous year. Around 2 million kilowatt-hours of new storage capacity came online, bringing the total battery storage capacity to around 28 gigawatt-hours, spread across 2.5 million installations. This capacity is equivalent to the average daily electricity consumption of around 3 million households in Germany.
