Govt nod to Rs 5,659 cr for five-year mission to increase cotton yield

The Centre has approved Rs 5,659.22 crore for the Mission for Cotton Productivity. The Union Cabinet has also hiked the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane to Rs 365 per quintal for 2026-27. The cotton mission aims to enhance lint productivity from 440 kg/ha to 755 kg/ha by 2031, benefiting approximately 32 lakh farmers and making the country self-reliant in the cotton sector.
