Havana slams new Trump sanctions as ‘collective punishment’ of Cuban people

The Cuban government has rejected new US sanctions, calling them "unilateral coercive measures" intended to impose "collective punishment on the Cuban people". The sanctions are extraterritorial in nature and violate the United Nations Charter, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said. The US has no right to impose measures against Cuba or third countries, the minister added. The new sanctions target individuals and groups helping Cuba's security forces, those involved in corruption and human rights abuses, and officials or supporters of the Cuban government.
