Iranian officials to miss FIFA Congress over alleged mistreatment in Canada

An Iranian football federation delegation turned back at Toronto's Pearson airport, citing unacceptable behaviour by Canadian immigration officials. The delegation, including federation President Mehdi Taj, Secretary-General Hedayat Mombeni and his deputy, Hamed Momeni, had valid visas but returned to Turkey due to the incident. The Iranian delegation was en route to Vancouver for a FIFA Congress, which is part of the World Cup being cohosted by Canada, the United States and Mexico.
