Jofra Archer dismisses Abhishek Sharma on the first ball in SRH vs RR IPL 2026 clash
The Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag once again won the toss and pushed a batting-friendly side of the Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first. Jofra Archer dismissed Abhishek Sharma on the very first ball of the spell and handed the Royals another solid start with the ball.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad are hosting another team at their home venue, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Sunrisers have not had the best of records at their home ground this season, as they have just won a single match in the season, and that too at Eden Gardens.
Rajasthan Royals are one of the two undefeated sides in this edition of the IPL, as they are currently at the top of the points table with 8 points in 4 games, one more than Punjab Kings, who are also undefeated in the season.
Jofra Archer dismissed Abhishek Sharma for a Golden duck
Abhishek Sharma, the dynamic opener for the Sunrisers, struggled to maintain his consistency in this season. The opener flaunts a stunning record in the powerplay and forms one of the most destructive batting pairs alongside Travis Head.
However, Archer bowled a quick delivery that beat him for pace, and the left-handed batter, who has the knack of smacking balls for sixes through the off side, skied the ball to the fielder at deep backward point.
The batter, after a promising performance in the last game against the Punjab Kings, was dismissed for a duck as he stepped into the set trap by the Royals' paceman and the skipper.
Abhishek Sharma scored an 18-ball half-century in the last game
Before coming into this game, Abhishek played a top knock in their last game at his original home ground at the PCA New Stadium in New Chandigarh. During that game, it seemed the player had gotten back his form from 2025, which he had missed since the start of the ICC T20 World Cup.
Abhishek Sharma struck the ball very hard as he destroyed the Punjab Kings bowling lineup, piling up the highest powerplay score of IPL 2026. He scored an 18-ball half-century as he struck five fours and four sixes in the fifty, and took his team to 105-runs within the powerplay.
Jofra Archer’s first-ball wicket
Jofra Archer, the English paceman, has been one of RR's most valuable assets in the IPL. He started this season well, as he often found himself amid wickets. He has now picked up a knack for picking wickets in the very first over of his spell.
Archer had dismissed Phil Salt with a bumper in the last game in Gawahati, and now he has done the trick once again for Riyan Parag, by dismissing Abhishek Sharma, making him walk into a set trap. Archer is the most valuable asset for the Royals, especially with the new ball.
