Kawal Tiger Reserve in Telangana has sufficient prey to support a population of over 35 tigers. However, the reserve lacks a breeding tiger population and experts stress the need for wildlife corridors, reduced human conflict, and possible assisted tiger dispersal for successful conservation. The reserve's core area can support approximately 35-41 tigers based on current prey availability, but fragmented landscapes and human settlements hinder tiger movement between Kawal and neighbouring source populations.
